Disney World notes

You will wait 45 minutes in line to get a Princess signature – even if you swore you’d never be ‘that’ parent.

You will wait in line for 70 minutes because your husband wants to ride Soarin'.

Your daughter will hold your hand – and not because she’s been told to. She’ll touch any part of you: your arm, hand, hair, face, leg. Just to be a part of you. She is grateful.

Just because a height requirement on a ride is 7 inches shorter than your child, does not mean it is a suitable ride -- even if they 'want' to get on the ride. (Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, and Splash Mountian)

Your child will ask 78 questions while in line for the Playhouse Disney Live on Stage! event. Just answer them, even if 42 questions are the same.

You will meet people from Wales, California, Ohio, England and Kentucky. They are so kind and have no problem sharing with you their life story – and you basically do the same. You’re stuck in line with them for 30 minutes, so why not.

I find it amusing that while at a child’s interactive show, a mom will give a look of disapproval to another child for … interacting.

You will quickly define your role. I’m the organizer/planner/time-watcher/money-watcher/schedule-keeper. Russ is the do-er. He has enough patience to look for a Kim Possible clue at Epcot (it took an hour – we still didn’t finish the ‘mission.’). I was the one worried about whether we’d have time to get to Downtown Disney and back to Epcot to catch our shuttle back to our hotel.

If it is your daughter’s birthday, she will wear a pin that says “Happy Birthday, Princess (Jenna).” Everyone working at the park will say that to her. You will soon start calling yours Princess throughout the entire visit.

I need to pay better attention to Disney/Pixar movie. Russ and Jenna knew more than me.

British skin gets ‘crispy.’ Americans burn.

At Disney World are the most kind and patient parents. It doesn’t mean they won’t yell at their kids, though.

I love the woman with the heavily-sprayed hair at the water park who was approaching a pretty heavy waterfall during the tube ride. I was disappointed that I didn’t see the end result.

Walk into the Magic Kingdom, and it’s a while different world. You ain’t at Animal Kingdom anymore.

You more than likely will vote for the winner of the “American Idol Experience.” It’s just that obvious, folks.

It is possible to wear out a 6-year-old. There’s nothing like her passed out in your arms each night on the shuttle.

There are trash cans everywhere. Don’t litter.

Disney World does not mean little girls won’t cry.

You can only eat so many baked chickens. Get the fries next time. You’re about to walk it off anyway.

You’ll see a lot of your friends’ twins. I saw Julie B. 2 times and Duane once. Weird.

When 8 people advise you to coordinate your schedule with show times and character signing times, listen to them. All 8 of them … and then follow through.

If your child is obsessed with both the time and how much things cost, Disney World is a dangerous place.
