Let me first introduce Camden.
He is sweet, funny, smart. And he is Jenna's best friend.
He rides Jenna's purple and pink three-wheeler in our cul-de-sac, and when Jenna rides his big-boy red bike, he rides her pink and purple big-girl bike. No problem. Not an issue.
They fight like they're an old married couple. They laugh like they are the only two people in the world who understand a joke.
And at age 3, maybe they are.
It's their innocence that attracts me to this friendship of theirs. It's the simplicity of their being; the easiness of their smiles.
So when Camden, Jenna, Camden's mom and I were at McDonald's on Saturday afternoon, this shouldn't have come as a surprise:
After eating lunch and letting the children play on the indoor playground, Camden was told it was time to go. He started crying.
His mom left the play area for a few minutes, and Camden moved to a different table with his tears. With his head on the table hiding his face, Jenna looked over at him. She didn't say anything, but walked over to him and sat next to him.
Camden sat on the Grimace chair; Jenna, on Hamburger.
Best friends.
Nothing was said.
Nothing had to be.

The best things in live aren't things, they're friends.
Ok, that should have been life, not live. Kinda ruined it, huh? Let's try again!
